“Many of my Malay customers and their children are huge fans of my popiah sushi. I’m glad that not only do my Chinese customers enjoy my popiah, but there are other races that like to try food from different cultures as well.”
– Joe Chong, owner of Ofanz Rojak and Popiah
What started out as a interesting idea turned into a huge hit with Joe’s customers, who were intrigued by the sushi-styled popiah that he sold at his stall in Woodlands, Singapore. It used to be consumed mainly by the Chinese, but now it has become a firm favourite for other races in Singapore too.
